This
site is a tribute to my favourite writer, Anne Carroll George. The page
was down recently, and I am in the process of getting things working
properly. Please bear with me. Anne passed away March 14, 2001 due to complications from heart surgery. She will be missed more than my words can convey. Please feel free to sign the guestbook at the bottom of this page. My special hugs to Anne's son Buster and her entire family for their kindness to me. Anne was also a Pulitzer-nominated poet. Keep an eye out for a terrific anthology of her poetry, entitled The Map That Lies Between Us, New and Collected Poems, 1980 - 2000 has just been released. Click here to order it My favourite in that volume, is Old Men Driving. It reminds me of my late father. Anne wrote a wonderful series of 'cozy' mysteries, more popularly known as The Southern Sisters Mysteries. The last book in the series, Murder Boogies With Elvis has been released! You can order it here. I got my copy this week and I have to admit it is laugh out loud funny, but it is a bittersweet read for me. Anne's literary release was her brilliant book of poetry: A Map That Lies Between Us. Press 'The Map' button to your left and read about this wonderful collection. A Map That Lies Between Us has just been named Book of the Year, by the Alabama State Poet's Society! Visit their site at http://poetry.wecre8.com/ Anne published a wonderful novel called This One and Magic Life: A Novel of a Southern Family, in 1999. It's a touching story of life, and ironically of death and family. The novel was very special to Anne and it has a special spot on my shelf. It has recently been released in paperback, with an even more stunning cover. Anne's skills were such that she could break your heart and make you laugh all within a single page of words. It is that, and her ability to make you feel 'part of the family' she is writing about, that drew me to read and re-read her books. Ironically, Anne left us with a mystery of her very own...her actually age! This is a point noted in various articles and memorials. I built this site so that current and new fans can see what Anne and her books meant to me. Anne was so supportive of me, and this site. She brought joy to all who knew and loved her. The website will remain online, as long as the powers that be allow me to do so :) Traci Bell
